Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions?
What is the difference between a pole barn and metal building?
The terms metal building and pole barn are often used interchangeably, but they actually refer to two different types of structures.
A pole barn uses wooden or steel posts (often called poles) that are set into the ground to support the structure. The poles are spaced out and serve as the primary load-bearing elements. The walls and roof are typically metal.
A metal building has a steel frame that supports the structure. The steel frame is typically made of I-beams or other steel components that form the primary structure of the building. The walls and roof are usually made of metal panels, providing strength and durability.
